This improvisation was recorded on December 5, 2021. Why is it called Silent Forest? Because it's more personal than calling it "Improvisation #12426." While putting this video together, it evoked thoughts of a silent forest. So that's the name I ultimately decided to give it.

This improvisation took place on February 2, 2013. I used to enjoy improvising on the pipe organ at various local churches. It started back in high school when I was given the key to a local church to practice the organ when the church was empty. What a privilege that was! I feel like a kid in a candy store whenever I sit at the console. All those buttons and knobs give me an endless combination of sounds to play with. I'm quite an amateur at the organ, stumbling over the notes, looking down at my feet, and playing with one hand while I concentrate on pressing the correct pedals (like you'll see in this video). But I always have fun doing so. I love the loud sound produced by the organ, the king of the instruments!
Winter Bedtime was improvised on the piano and recorded on December 5, 2021 (see improvisation video below). That night, I improvised for a couple hours after returning home from an event. A day or two after an improvisation session like this, I listen to the recording and hand select the improvisations I personally think turned out well (if any). These hand selected improvisations are then shared with you.
I'm hesitant to call this a "Baroque" improvisation due to some of the chords I chose to use and the manner in which I play it. However, all of my improvisations, regardless of the style in which I choose to play them, have a foundation in my understanding of the Baroque style.

Throughout middle school and high school, I played various instruments in the schools' music ensembles, including alto saxophone, keyboard, marimba, euphonium, tuba, and viola. After high school, I attended a small liberal arts school initially as a music major. However, by the end of my sophomore year, other ambitions led me to switch my field of study to computer science and sign-up for military service. Upon graduating college with a degree in computer science, I entered into the military and served for seven years. When I returned to civilian life, I began working as a software engineer.
